Healthy fats are vital to so many different aspects of your self – from your health to your looks, healthy fats can help keep you feeling and looking great! In my all new special interest keepsake magazine, Turn Stress Into Success For Less!, there is an entire section on nutrition – and how you can get good, healthy nutrients into your diet for not a lot of money!!
A balance of carbs, protein and healthy fats are what can jumpstart your metabolism. You need all three for your health: Carbohydrates provide you with energy, protein helps build muscle, and fats are what keeps your body running smoothly and helps you feel full so you don’t overeat. One area I cover is healthy fats… so important and when done right, you don’t have to break the bank! Here are a few of my favorite ways to get healthy fats into my diet:
Avocados. One of my favorites, avocados are filled with healthy fats that can help your skin look plump and beautiful! And the bonus is that they are so versatile, you can use them in so many ways! Think outside of guacamole and avocado toast (two of my favorites!!) and throw some avocado into a smoothie… or cut in half, remove the pit and place on the grill for a minute or so, and then splash with tamari sauce for a wonderful mix of textures and flavors… or chop up and mix with grapefruit slices, fresh corn and black beans for a wonderful, bright appetizer or side dish. I have been known to eat avocado straight from the skin, with a dash of pepper and squeeze of lemon on top!
Walnuts. Another of my favorite, walnuts are a good source of omega-3 fatty acids, which are good for brain and heart health. I love to roast walnuts and add them to salads, but you an also eat them raw as a snack, add them to homemade cookies for an extra nutritional punch, and use in pestos. So good for you and delicious!
