Hi Everyone!
Today we are headed to the Carribbean, throwing it back to my TV show and learning a great move for target toning the hips, thighs and buttocks! I love this exercise because it sculpts every part of the thigh–the inside, the outside, the upper and the lower thigh giving you long, lean sexy legs.
The fusion of classical ballet and cardio fitness in barre toning is a great way to create long, lean muscles and improved posture. Ballerinas have the most beautiful bodies! I recently got to meet Misty Copeland, the beautiful and talented ballerina who recently made history as the first African American principle ballerina for the American Ballet Theater Company. She is as beautiful on in the inside as she is on the outside! And soo fit and sculpted!
Get out a chair and let’s try this move together. Be sure to keep your posture upright and your abs pulled up and in. In ballet, this move is called a rond de jambe, which from French means “round leg” in English. The rond de jambe is a circular motion to target tone the hips, thighs & buttocks, done while isolating the movement in your leg and keeping your torso straight and strong. Imagine your standing leg being rooted to the floor and that will help you to balance.
