Exercising With Kids

My daughter, Katie, and I had the best time on the TV show The Doctors (click here to watch the episode). This was my first national TV show with her and she shared with everyone she is following in my footsteps! This appearance meant so much to me, it was a really special experience. Katie’s passion is to help girls, especially teens, to grow their self esteem and self worth. When she got up on the show and lead the audience in exercise, I welled up with tears…I really couldn’t be prouder of her.

My daughters and I have been exercising together since they were little. Whether you’re dancing or walking or biking, playing lacrosse like my girls did, or just playing catch, getting out there and exercising with your kids creates healthy habits that can be instilled for a lifetime. Childhood obesity statistics are higher than ever. According to the Center for Disease Control, childhood obesity has more than doubled in children and quadrupled in adolescents in the past 30 years. Recent statistics read that more than one third of children and adolescents are overweight. With healthy eating and making time to get up and get moving together, you can prevent your children from falling into unhealthy patterns, and stave off all sorts of health issues, such as diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure and even asthma.

For Flashback Friday, I wanted to share with you this video when Katie was little, practicing ballet moves. She is so sweet and she has always loved to dance.

If you’re looking for some new dance moves that you can do with your kids, check out the Mother Daughter Dance Workout in my 360 Plan, where Katie leads everyone in a fun booty shaking dance to get fit.

Love always,
Denise
