Self Care Tips
Being kind to yourself and your health is soooo important – especially now! And if you are a caregiver to children, parents or other family members, you NEED to take care of yourself, because if you aren’t keeping yourself healthy, you will be less effective in caring for others! I know it can be hard to carve out time for self care, so here are some really great self care tips that only take a few minutes, and will do wonders for your health and well-being. Give them a try – you deserve it and you are worth it!
- Do a morning mini-workout. I’ve been creating free morning workouts for the past few years, available to anyone on my YouTube channel – I love creating them, and my readers have loved doing them! You can find my Wake Up Workout, Good Morning Stretch and Fast and Fit Workout series on my YouTube channel. Make sure and subscribe so you never miss a new workout! These will help you start the day on a positive, healthy foot…..and are just five minutes!! They will help you get your blood flowing, get your head in a positive space, and really make a difference in your outlook for the day. Set your alarm for five minutes earlier every day next week and give them a try – no equipment required, just hop out of bed and give them a go! Start with my January Wake Up Workout today!
- Stay hydrated. It’s so easy to forget to drink enough water, yet it is so important for our health. I highly recommend buying a reusable water bottle and keeping it with you all day so it makes sipping simple. If that doesn’t work for you, make sure to start the day with a big glass of water, and drink a glass every time you use the bathroom. Staying hydrated helps to stave off headaches, helps keep you alert, and can even cut down on mindless snacking. All win-wins!
- Keep your energy up through healthy food choices. It can be as simple as eating smaller portions at meals, or choosing healthy snacks for between-meal pick ups. Get more tips on healthy eating suggestions here. Also check out my Healthy Kitchen Staples to Stock Up On list – helpful for the run to the store.
- Take a break every hour to stretch and move. It will help you re-focus your mind, and help keep stress and tension from building up. My Good Morning Stretch Workouts are a GREAT way to get in stretching – so good for when you are feeling anxious or tense.
