In a couple days, I’ll be 60 | At This Age, We Can Do It All
Honestly, that’s a scary number. When I think about the idea of being 60, I can’t believe I’m almost there, and I want to run the other way. But that’s the thing—it’s just the idea of 60 that scares me. It’s the perception that society has given us, and that perception is based on the past—because at one point in the past, 60 was old!
But 60 isn’t what it used to be. Now, 60 is not old. And that’s a fact! As a society, we’re living much longer, and more importantly, we’re staying active for much longer. And that’s how I know that 60 is only as scary as we let it be—just like we’re only as old as we feel and act.
And in fact, I don’t feel any different than I did when I was 40. I know tons of women who say the same. Because age really is just a number. The way you live your life defines how you feel (and even how you look!). I have always stayed active and tried my hardest to live a balanced, healthy lifestyle, and I really think that’s why I feel like I haven’t gotten a day older for the past 20+ years.
So I’m looking forward to my 60th. It’s going to be a celebration of everything we can do regardless of our age. And that’s what I want to share with you: Right now, at this age, we can do it all.
We’ve been through enough to know what we want and how we’re going to get there, and we’re not going to be held back by anything! For some of us, our kids have moved out and some of our responsibilities have lessened, so we can focus on ourselves and our most important relationships and goals, every day.
We can do it all.
All we have to do is make sure we never stop. I know that as long as I’m moving, I’m improving.
This is a time of new beginnings, and I can’t wait to celebrate turning 60 years young. I can’t wait to continue being LifeFit with all of you, discovering how we’re going to grow and what else we have to offer each other—and the world.
