I love to eat nuts, whether as a snack, scattered on top of a salad, tossed into some yogurt or oatmeal, or even as a coating for chicken and fish. And one of my FAVORITE nuts are walnuts – so let me show you how to roast walnuts!

Walnuts are so good for you – they provide fiber, healthy fats, vitamins and minerals and more! Some of their benefits include:

  • They promote heart health. Walnuts are a good source of antioxidants, which can help fight against damage cause by LDL “bad” cholesterol, as well as omega-3 fats, which can help to minimize the risk of heart disease. They also contain nutrients that can help to decrease inflammation, which is a root cause of heart disease. Eating walnuts can help to improve blood pressure and lower cholesterol and triglyceride levels. So aim for 1 to 1.5 ounces of walnuts daily for your heart health!
  • They promote healthy aging. Adding walnuts to your diet helps promote healthy gut flora, which can lead to a decreased risk of disease. They also can help to minimize inflammation, which is linked to Alzheimer’s disease.
  • They can help your weight-loss goals. While walnuts are calorie-dense, they are a unique food in that you may not absorb all their calories… almonds are another nut that can actually help you lose weight. Plus the healthy fats in walnuts can fill you up and help keep you from overeating.

And an added bonus, they are portable, so you can take them anywhere to help make healthy snack choices a no-brainer!
